What is IB Middle Years Programme?
The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a challenging educational framework for students aged 11 to 16 (Grades 6-10). Part of the International Baccalaureate continuum, MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies and the real world. The programme includes 8 subject groups and requires a Personal Project in the final year.
MYP assessment uses criterion-based grading on a 1-7 scale for each subject. The programme culminates in either MYP eAssessments (externally moderated) or school-based assessment. MYP is designed as preparation for the IB Diploma Programme, making it crucial for students who plan to pursue the IBDP. Quanta provides tutors who understand the MYP assessment criteria and can help students build the skills needed for a smooth transition to the Diploma Programme.

Why Choose Quanta for IB MYP Tutoring?
MYP Criteria Experts
Our tutors are trained in MYP criterion-referenced assessment. They teach students how to explicitly address each of the four criteria per subject, use the correct command terms at each achievement level, and structure responses that earn top marks across all strands.
Personal Project Guidance
The MYP Personal Project is worth significant effort in Year 5. Our tutors guide students through every stage — from choosing a topic and global context, to maintaining the process journal, conducting research, and writing the final report that meets all IB criteria.
DP Preparation
We prepare MYP students for the transition to the IB Diploma Programme by developing the extended writing, critical analysis, and independent research skills they'll need for HL subjects, the Extended Essay, and Theory of Knowledge.
Inquiry-Based Learning
MYP is built around inquiry. Our tutors use the MYP key and related concepts to guide learning, helping students develop genuine conceptual understanding rather than surface-level memorization. This mirrors what IB schools expect and prepares students for deeper learning.
ATL Skills Development
Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills are central to MYP success. Our tutors explicitly develop self-management, research, thinking, social, and communication skills that help students become independent learners — skills that are invaluable for the Diploma Programme and beyond.
eAssessment Preparation
For schools that use MYP eAssessments, our tutors provide targeted preparation including on-screen exam practice, time management strategies, and familiarity with the digital exam format. We cover both the on-screen examination and the ePortfolio components.
